This plant is also called the “gold of pleasures”. Dodder became a common plant in about 400-500 BC. Dodders were grown alone or together with flax. Seeds were used for daily consumption (same as flax or wheat). Dodder seeds were added when baking bread, or porridges together with oats. Dodder oil was used for treatment of wounds, burns, eye infections and stomach ulcers. In addition, dodder oil was widely used for oil lamps. Dodder seeds contain 28-42 percent of oil, the most valuable part of it being high content of unsaturated fatty acids (up to 91%), of which the polyunsaturated fatty acids Omega-3 amount to about 40% and Omega-6 to about 20%. As an edible oil it is highly valued for its friendly and optimal ratio of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids and particularly the high alpha-linolenic acid (Omega-3) content. Fatty acids suppress carcinogenesis and some tumour metastasis formation stages. Dodder oil contains large amounts of magnesium, vitamins E, A, D, K, B-carotene, and a powerful antioxidant complex.

Dodder oil has a high magnesium content. Magnesium is very important for cardio-vascular system, muscles, nervous system; it supports the normal amount of sugar in the blood and improves digestion.

Dodder oil is also rich in biologically active substances – phospholipids, chlorophyll, phytosterols. Chlorophyll characterised by antibacterial and wound healing promoting effects increases the haemoglobin content and white blood cell count and it helps to improve the respiratory, digestive, cardiovascular and endocrine system activity. Together with magnesium contained in the dodder oil it actively inhibits stone formation. Phytosterols contained in the dodder oil have many healing properties and are quite effective in the treatment of hormonal disorders, prostatitis and prostatic adenoma.

Use dodder oil for prevention and treatment for 2-3 months, 1 tablespoon a day (in the morning, before meals).
